BATAVIA/Tree maintenance and removal work to begin in designated City Project Area

The City of Batavia is notifying residents that tree trimming, maintenance, and removal work will begin this month within the designated project area shown on the attached map.

Press release

AJ’s Tree Service will complete the tree trimming, maintenance, and removal work. Residents may see contractor crews working along streets and in public spaces throughout the project area beginning in September.

Following this initial work, approximately 850 trees will be planted throughout the project area. Cardinal Lawn and Landscaping will complete the contracted planting work, with additional planting performed by crews from the City of Batavia.

Tree planting will occur in phases, beginning in fall 2026 and continuing in spring 2027. The phased schedule will allow trees to be planted during appropriate seasonal conditions.

This project is funded through the DEC’s Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program and is intended to address declining trees, improve the health of existing trees, expand the City’s tree canopy, and enhance the safety and appearance of neighborhoods and public spaces within the project area.

Residents are encouraged to review the attached map to determine whether their neighborhood is included in the project area. Residents with questions or concerns may contact the City of Batavia Bureau of Maintenance at 585-345-6400, select option 1.
