GENESEE COUNTY/Road closures and pavement work scheduled on Lewiston and Lockport roads beginning October 26th

Press release

ALABAMA, NY— A culvert replacement at the intersection of Lewiston Road and Lockport Road in the
Town of Alabama will require road closures on Monday, October 26. Separate pavement work on
Lewiston Road will also begin that day and affect traffic over multiple days.
Culvert Replacement and Road Closures

Crews will replace a badly damaged cross culvert at the Lewiston Road and Lockport Road intersection.
The project is expected to take one day and will require closures at the following locations:

  • Lewiston Road, approaching from the school: Closed at Macomber Road.
  • Lewiston Road, approaching from the west: Closed at the Knowlesville Road crossing.
  • Lockport Road, approaching from the east: Closed at Bliss Road.
Motorists should plan alternate routes while the closures are in effect.
    Lewiston Road Pavement Repairs

Also beginning Monday, October 26, crews will repair sections of Lewiston Road between Route 77 and
the Lockport Road intersection.

The work, known as “true and leveling,” involves using a paver to place hot-mix asphalt in areas needing
repair. These repairs will help prevent existing pavement holes from worsening over the winter and
prepare the road for a planned surface treatment next year.

This work will not require a complete road closure, but motorists should expect slower traffic and
delays. The project is expected to take multiple days, with the duration depending on conditions
encountered during the work.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution around crews and equipment
