WYOMING COUNTY/Careless use of a grill on a porch causes $50,000 in damages to Wethersfield home

The careless use of a charcoal grill on a front porch caused a house fire at 2830 Rt. 78 in the Town of Wethersfield on Tuesday morning about 9:35a.m.

North Java, Bliss, Arcade and Chaffee Sardinia responded to the scene along with assistance from Wyoming County Emergency Management, Wyoming County Sheriff’s, NYS Police, Monroe Ambulance, Red Cross and National Grid.

Crews were on scene for about 6 hours and were called back several times during the day for a rekindle.

Estimated loss is $50,000 and the two occupants, Dianna and Sean Shroud, are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The home is owned by Ben Bryant.
