GENESEE COUNTY/Woman suffers serious injuries in collision with semi

UPDATE:A preliminary investigation indicates that a 2018 Volvo tractor trailer being operated by Robin L. Alexander of Buffalo, was traveling west on Rt. 5 and a 2015 Ford Fusion, being operated by Megan King of Oakfield, was traveling east on Rt. 5.

The initial investigation indicates that a collision occurred between the two vehicles just over the center line in the eastbound lane.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The accident is being investigated by Chief Deputy Graff, Sgt. Hale, Inv. Minuto, Deputy Demuth, Deputy Meyer and Deputy Brabon. Assisting at the scene were East Pembroke Fire, Pembroke Fire, Alabama Fire, Oakfield Fire, and the Town of Batavia Fire Department along with Mercy EMS and the NYS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.

 

A tractor trailer and car were involved in a collision on Rt. 5 on Thursday evening .

The female driver was trapped in the car after the crash and had to be extricated from her vehicle by fire crews .

According to East Pembroke Fire Chief Don Newton, the woman was conscious and alert and suffered serious injures and was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Rt. 5 was closed for close to 4 hours.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office Crash Management team is investigating the cause of the accident and will release more information in a press release later today.
