BATAVIA/City School District breaks ground on the 2020 Vision Capital Project

The 2020 Vision Capital Project is officially underway with the construction process beginning today at Van Detta Stadium at Woodward Field.

This morning Assemblyman Steve Hawley joined 2nd grader Jerell Jones and the Board of Education, District Administrators and  Staff along with Campus Construction Management Group at John Kennedy School to kick off the 26.7 million dollar construction project which will take about 18-21 months to complete.

“I am thrilled we are re-doing Van Detta Stadium and making the Robert Morris facility a more productive area for the community and our tenants and the neighborhood and making parking there for events,” says School Board President Pat Burk.

John Kennedy School will see four new classrooms, interior renovations and other upgrades.

At the Robert Morris building, the playground will be relocated and reopen in the spring.

There will also be interior and exterior renovations at the Richmond Library that will begin in December.

Improvements will also be made at Jackson School in February of next year and at the High School in May of next year.

“This will help modernize and protect and update things so our kids have access to the best facilities possible here in Batavia,”says Superintendent Christopher Dailey.
