BATAVIA POLICE REPORT/Man charged with DWI after striking a pole

Jonathan A. Bell, 34, of Evans St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, failure to stop at a stop sign, refusal to take a breath test, unlicensed operation and aggravated unlicensed operation 3rd after a single vehicle accident at 201 Washington avenue on February 4, 2019 at 11:12p.m.

Bell was processed and released with uniform traffic tickets and will appear in City Court on February 12, 2019 at 9:00a.m.

James A. Chase, 39, of Oak St., Batavia, is charged with sex offender failed to report change within 10 days/previous conviction, on January 13, 2019.

Chase is a registered NYS level 3 sex offender and was on parole, he was being held at the Genesee County Jail on a parole violation at the time of his arrest.

He was arraigned in City court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail with no bail set. Chase will re-appear in court on February 7, 2019 at 11:00a.m.

Hayley N. Giles, 21, of Hutchins St., Batavia, is charged with harassment 2nd following an investigation of a domestic incident involving siblings on Hutchins street on February 3, 2019.

Giles was released on an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on February 12, 2019. at 1:00p.m.

Eric K. Ricks, 40, of Ellicott St. Rd., Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after police were called to an address on Thomas avenue for an altercation on February 1, 2019 where Ricks was found to allegedly be in possession of marijuana.

He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in City Court on February 12, 2019 at 1:00p.m.
