GENESEE COUNTY/Accident in LeRoy claims the life of a Churchville woman

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident in the Town of LeRoy that occurred on Rt. 19 near Randall road.

Law enforcement and emergency crews responded to the intersection about 5:30 on Monday afternoon.

Upon arrival, patrols identified the driver of the 2008 Chevy Cobalt, that was traveling southbound as Bonnie B. Dean, 77, of Churchville, NY. The driver of the 2013 GMC Terrain, that was traveling northbound on Rt. 19, was Penne M. Vincent, 56, of Fairport.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Dean was attempting to pass an uninvolved vehicle on the right that was waiting to turn left onto North Road. Dean’s vehicle then went off the west shoulder of Rt. 19. Dean was unable to maintain control causing the vehicle to travel across the southbound lane into the northbound lane and then striking the GMC Terrain head on.

Dean was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Coroner.

Vincent was transported to Strong Hospital with injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

The crash is being investigated by Chief Deputy Brian Frieday, Sgt. Andrew Hale, Sgt. James Deihl, Sgt. Jason Saile and Deputies Richard Schildwaster, Mat Clor, Travis Demuth with assistance from officers Greg Kellogg ,John Condidorio and Stephen Cappotelli of the LeRoy Police Dept. along with LeRoy Fire and ambulance.
