ORLEANS COUNTY/Motorcyclist remembered at site of crash

Friends and family of Jaquan Ford, 28, who died in a motorcycle accident last Friday on Brown and Bacon road, gathered at the crash site on Friday evening to remember him.

Benjamin Bloom, who was riding with Ford the night he died, led about 100 motorcycles from Rochester to Albion on a Memorial Ride for Ford, paying tribute to him.

Fellow riders burned rubber in the intersection of the road where Ford died.

After putting up a remembrance memorial at the road sign, the group held a moment of silence and released balloons.

Bloom addressed the crowd on hand as all family. He says this is what Ford would have wanted to see. Bloom was driving his motorcycle ahead of Ford last week and knew something was up when close to 3 minutes went by and he did not arrive at a friends house on Caroline street.

After Ford did not show up on Caroline street, Bloom drove back down the road looking for Ford, finding him laying in the roadway after an accident with a pick up truck at Bacon and Brown road.

Bloom and Ford were also riding with a third person last Friday. That motorcyclist witnessed the accident.

Bloom says Ford worked and helped pay for his brother’s college. He and Ford have been riding partners and friends for about 5 years.

Savanity, Fords sister, thanked everyone who showed up on Friday night.

Ford was a member of the Lower 9 Motorcycle Club in Rochester.
