The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 4 year old child in the Town of LeRoy this morning.
Dispatchers received a call about a missing 4 year old male about 7:55a.m. on Wednesday.
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Department, LeRoy Police Department and NYS Police responded the area of East Main street near the Oatka Mobile Home Park to search for the child.
The child was located at 8:34a.m. in a swimming pool located in a nearby yard. Medical assistance was rendered at the scene and the child was transported by LeRoy ambulance to UMMC where he later died.
At this time a preliminary investigation by the Sheriff’s Office indicates that this appears to be an accidental drowning.
The case is being investigated by the Sheriff’s Office and no other details are being released at this time.
