ORLEANS COUNTY/Holley man identified as driver of the pickup truck in triple fatal accident on Saturday

On October 5, 2019 at approximately 11:30 A.M., Troopers out of SP Albion responded to a head-on collision on State Highway 63 in the town of Shelby, Orleans County. 

Further investigation revealed that a U-Haul van was traveling southbound on State Highway 63 and crossed the centerline striking an oncoming pickup truck.  Both vehicles left the roadway and were consumed by fire.  The operator, Charles L. Stevens, 80 of Black River, NY and the passenger Jeffrey S. Johnson, 57 of Carthage, NY were pronounced at the scene. 

*The operator of the pickup truck, Gordon H. Tooley, 73 of Holley, NY was pronounced at the scene.

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Shelby Volunteer Fire Company assisted in this investigation.

This is still an on-going investigation.
