The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal one car motor vehicle accident that occurred in the area of 7860 Townline road in the Town of Bergen on May 18, 2020 at 7:11p.m.
Upon arrival, patrols observed a blue 2005 Chevy Impala into a utility pole. It was determined there were three occupants inside the vehicle.
Elijah R. Coombs, 25, of Oakfield, was the operator of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second occupant, Jamie R. Bachorski, 26, of Oakfield, was transported via Mercy Flight to Strong Hospital with serious injuries. The third occupant, Samantha J. Wade, 21, of Byron, was transported via ground ambulance to Strong Hospital with minor injuries.
Crash investigators say the 2005 Impala was traveling west on Rt. 262, when it left it’s lane of travel and then crossed over the center line and continued off the south shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole on the driver’s side, causing the vehicle to spin 180 degrees and then come to rest.
The crash is currently under investigation.
Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were members of the Bergen Fire Department, Mercy EMS, and the NYS Police.
