WYOMING COUNTY/North Java/A malfunctioning pellet machine is the cause of the fire at the mill

12 fire companies responded to a commercial feed mill fire at 1830 Perry road, Reisdorf Brothers, in the Town of Sheldon on Thursday morning about 9:14a.m.

According to Wyoming County Fire Investigators, an overheated bearing in a pellet machine, located in the basement, caused the fire. The complex suffered smoke and water damage throughout.

Estimated loss is 2 million dollars.

No injuries were reported and fire crews from North Java, Strykersville, Sheldon, Varysburg, Arcade, Attica, Gainesville, Harris Corners, Warsaw, Holland and East Aurora were on scene to extinguish the fire for about 6 hours.

Also assisting on scene, Wyoming County Emergency Services, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe Ambulance, Town of Java, NYS Police and NYSEG.
