WYOMING COUNTY/Orchard Park man found dead in a pond at campground

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, the Wyoming County Emergency Services and the North Java Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a missing adult male at the Jellystone Campground, in the Town of Java.

After an extensive search of the property, an Orchard Park man was found deceased in a pond, located on the property, by Water Rescue and Recovery Teams.

Michael R. Nicholoff ,41, of East Quaker Street, Orchard Park, was pronounced dead at 0830 hours. There is no foul play suspected at this time. Nicholoff was transported to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. The investigation will continue.

The North Java Fire Department was led by Assistant Chief Doug George and the other agencies assisting with the search and recovery efforts were the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Castile Water Rescue Team (consisting of members from Silver Springs, Gainesville, Perry, and Pike Fire Departments), Alden F.D .Under Water Search and Rescue Team, Livingston County Sheriff’s Under Water Search and Rescue Team. The staff from Jellystone Park also assisted during this rescue effort.
