GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia man jailed without bail, accused of choking and obstruction of breathing during an altercation involving two victims

Kaleb J. Bobzien, 23, of Alexander Rd., Batavia, is charged with strangulation 2nd, criminal obstruction of breathing(two counts), and endangering the welfare of a child under the age of 17, after an altercation with two people, one of which was under the age of 17.

On June 24, 2021 at about 8:00p.m. on Alexander road, Bobzien allegedly obstructed the breathing of two people. During the altercation, Bobzien allegedly placed a blanket over the face of one victim and choked the second person with his arm.

One victim reported injury to her neck as a result of the choking.

Bobzien was arrested and arraigned in the Town of Batavia Court and remanded to the Genesee County Jail without bail.

David T. Gay, 40, of Ellicott street, Batavia, is charged with DWI, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle 3rd, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd, resisting arrest, refusal to take a breath test and speeding/exceeding 55mph, after a traffic stop on Byron road in Stafford on June 30, 2021 at 8:36a.m.

Gay allegedly failed to stop for Deputy Quackenbush on Rt. 33 for a violation of NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. Gay eventually stopped a few miles away on Byron road. After an investigation, Gay was allegedly operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated by alcohol and resisted arrest.

He was transported to the Genesee County Jail, where Gay allegedly fought with deputies and corrections officers. Gay was released with appearance tickets and will appear in Stafford Town Court on July 9, 2021 at 11:00a.m.
