WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/September 9, 2021

Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene of a personal injury accident in the Town of Sheldon Monday afternoon, September 6, 2021 on Route 20A near Humphrey Road.

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a Pennsylvania family was traveling home when the driver crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with an Orchard Park family on their way home from Maryland.

Members of the Varysburg, Bennington, Strykersville, North Java, and Warsaw Fire Departments responded to the scene for assistance along with Mercy Flight. A total of 8 patients were transported from the scene to local hospitals for treatment. The injuries ranged from minor complaints of pain to one of the patients being listed in critical condition currently.

Wyoming County Accident Reconstruction Team was requested to the scene. The investigation is continuing.

A deputy from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling the Village of Warsaw, when a traffic stop was conducted for inadequate plate lamps on September 6, 2021. The operator was identified as Scott A. Moulton, 50, of Warsaw.

During the traffic stop, Moulton allegedly showed signs of drug impairment and failed field sobriety testing.

Moulton declined to cooperate with a drug influence evaluation.

Moulton is charged with DWAI/drugs (felony), no/inadequate plate lamp and uninspected motor vehicle.

Moulton is to appear on September 20, 2021 at 4:30p.m. at the Warsaw Village Court to answer the charges. Moulton was turned over to a sober third party.
