WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Bennington pair switch seats while driving, both face charges after traffic stop

Craig Ewert, 59, and Laurie Boguhn, 55, both of Bennington, were arrested following a traffic stop in the Town of Bennington on Rt. 354 in Bennington on September 16, 2021.

Ewert, who was known to have a suspended license, was observed by deputies operating a vehicle while towing a camper. When the traffic stop was initiated the vehicle failed to comply and continued travelling for several miles while the two occupants switched seats when the vehicle was in motion. When the vehicle stopped Boguhn was now in the driver’s seat.

Ewert was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operator 2nd, aggravated unlicensed operator 3rd, and was issued traffic tickets for reckless driving, a seatbelt violation, unlicensed operator, and failure to comply with a police officer.

Boguhn was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, and was issued traffic tickets for facilitating aggravated unlicensed operator, and facilitating unlicensed operation.
