WYOMING COUNTY/Woman seriously injured in buggy vs. pick up truck accident in Java

One person was transported to ECMC following a truck versus horse drawn carriage collision on Chaffee Road in the Town of Java on September 20, 2021.

A 2018 Ford F350 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Chaffee Road in the Town of Java when it crested a knoll in the roadway. The sun was rising in the east and was directly in the eyes of the operator. An Amish Buggy was eastbound at this location at the time within the eastbound driving lane with no visible markings on the Buggy. The 2018 Ford F350 collided with the Amish Buggy, and both the Ford and the Amish Buggy exited the roadway to the south. The adult male driver of the F350 was uninjured, and the sole adult female occupant of the Amish Buggy suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The injured female was transported by Monroe Ambulance to Erie County Medical Center for treatment. Following investigation at the scene, no charges were filed against either driver.
