WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Deputy injured after being kneed by suspect during a traffic stop in the Town of Warsaw

Three Pennsylvania residents were arrested and held without bail following a traffic stop on Route 20A near Burns Road in the Town of Warsaw on January 26, 2022.

Joseph A. Brennan, Jr., 56, of Girardville, PA, was the driver of a 2012 Ford Fusion stopped for a traffic infraction on Route 20A. Brennan was found to allegedly be in possession of a loaded 9mm Ruger semiautomatic handgun in his front right pants pocket which was loaded with 13 rounds. Brennan was also found to allegedly be in possession of 2.38 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his front left pants pocket. Brennan was taken into custody without incident.

Three other vehicle occupants were detained at the scene of the traffic stop.

While Sheriff’s Deputies were conducting pat downs of the passengers, the rear right seat passenger, Paul J. Durinko, 53, of Girardville, PA, began pushing deputies away from him. While attempting to take Durinko into custody, Durinko grabbed ahold of the deputies, and then struck a deputy in the ribs three times with his knee causing physical injury. A Taser was then deployed on Durinko, and following a struggle, Durinko was taken into custody. He was then found in possession of 3.6 ounces of crystal methamphetamine in his left pants pocket.

A total of $7,320.00 in United States currency was seized from within the vehicle, and the vehicle was subsequently seized and held in the Wyoming County Impound. All four vehicle occupants were taken to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for further interview and investigation.

Joseph A. Brennan

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree [Class A-II Felony], Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree [Class C Violent Felony], Side Windows Non-Transparent

Paul J. Durinko

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree [Class A-II Felony], Assault in the Second Degree [Class D Violent Felony], Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree

Siobhan N. Heiser

Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree [Class A-II Felony]

All three subjects were arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where they were remanded to the Wyoming County Jail without bail. All three are scheduled to appear in the Town of Warsaw Court on February 7, 2022.

An Arcade man is facing welfare charges after he allegedly filed false documents with the Department of Social Services on January 27, 2022.

Thomas Killlian, 54, of Arcade, is charged with Welfare Fraud 4th Degree, a Felony, and Offering a False Instrument to File 1st, a Felony, after an investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services.

It is alleged that Killian failed to report all household income and also failed to report everyone living in the household, while receiving public assistance. By failing to report all income and everyone living in the house he received $1,903.00 in county taxpayer benefits that he was not entitled to receive.

He will appear in the Town of Warsaw Court on February 28, 2022 at 3:00pm.
