WYOMING COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Buffalo pair charged during traffic stop in Covington

An investigation following an August 2021 traffic stop in the Town of Covington has led to the indictment of two Buffalo, NY residents.

On August 18, 2021, Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Route 63 in the Town of Covington for traffic infractions. Upon contact with the driver, Damone A. Hennings, 29, and passenger, Analyse J. Spencer, 21, it was discovered that neither vehicle occupant had a valid NYS driver’s license.

Hennings was taken into custody for driving with a suspended driver’s license, and a subsequent vehicle search was conducted. While searching the vehicle, deputies located a plastic contractor bag in the trunk which contained 11 approximate 1 pound vacuum sealed packages of cannabis, which was later weighed and found to contain a total weight between 11 and 12 pounds of cannabis. Also located within the vehicle was a stolen wallet with multiple stolen credit cards.

An additional wallet containing 8 New York State Unemployment Benefit Cards, with all different names on them, were located within a backpack inside the vehicle. Through investigation, these cards were all found to have been fraudulently applied for and obtained during the COVID-19 relief period.

Hennings was also charged with related vehicle and traffic charges and was found to have multiple felony convictions out of the State of Georgia.

Following arraignment, Hennings was held without bail, and Spencer was released on her own recognizance. Hennings later posted $5,000.00 bail after a bail application in Wyoming County Court.
