GENESEE COUNTY/No confirmed bacterial infections tied to water park says Health Department

The Genesee County Health Department says it has conducted an onsite inspection at the Palm Island Indoor Waterpark in response to concerns of bacterial infections recently. The indoor water park, located at 8250 Park road, inside the Quality Inn & Suites, is currently closed and is planning to re-open next week after a skylight was damaged during last Sunday’s windstorm, according to an employee who answered the phone there.

“Department staff have conducted an onsite inspection in response to the complaint and the facility has voluntarily closed and will not re-open until cleared by the Health Department,” according to Kaitlin Pettine, Public Information Officer/Genesee County Health Department.

Several people responded to a local Facebook page this past week saying they became ill and are or have been treated with antibiotic.

“The Genesee County Health Department is aware of concerns about bacterial infections resulting from the Palm Island Indoor Waterpark. At this time, there are no confirmed infections tied to the facility,” Pettine says

My family went last weekend on the 5th, and 7 out of 10 of us got sick after visiting that place. Water smelled like fish, entrance A had a mountain of dog shit next to the door, entrance B was falling apart you could see the beam because have the concrete was gone. Both garbage were extremely full. Walls had holes and the doors had no type of security, literally remained ajar 24/7. Anyone could enter at any time via side doors. Not to mention the trash everywhere. Also can’t forget, the dirty water that came out when I open the bathroom faucet! Do NOT RECOMMEND!!!
