GENESEE COUNTY SHERIFF’S REPORT/Batavia man charged after investigation into fraudulent $20 bill

James R. Cooper, 39, of Batavia, NY, is charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument 1st degree, following an investigation by Investigators Kevin Forsyth and Joseph Loftus into a fraudulent $20 bill at a business on Clinton street road in Batavia on December 27, 2021.

Cooper was arraigned in Batavia Town Court and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to re-appear in Batavia Town Court on August 2, 2022, at 3:00p.m.

Shannon L. Guiste, 51, of Batavia, NY, is charged with burglary 3rd degree and petit larceny after allegedly skip-scanning items without paying for them at Walmart at 4133 Veteran’s Memorial Drive on July 21, 2022.

Guiste was previously charged with trespass at Walmart in 2015 and allegedly entered the store unlawfully and allegedly committed a crime.

Guiste was arraigned by Judge Young in the Town of Batavia Court and will re-appear in court on August 30, 2022, at 2:30p.m.
