ORLEANS COUNTY/Albion/Police arrest man reportedly covered in blood, making threats, facing felony drug charges

On March 14th, 2023 at about 5:57p.m, Albion Police officers were dispatched to a location on West State Street for the report of a male covered in blood and threatening people nearby while holding a knife. The male was identified by residents in the area as Shane W. Lake, 31, of Albion, NY.

As responding officers were approaching the incident location, the male was observed operating a silver Jeep SUV eastbound on West State Street, away from the initial scene. Officers conducted a traffic stop and Lake was taken into custody without incident.

After a search of Lake and his vehicle, a large amount of heroin was located and seized. The heroin was found packaged up into 68 small plastic baggies.

Lake is charged with criminal possession of narcotic drug with intent to sell 3rd degree, a class B felony, and criminal possession of narcotic drug 4th degree, a class C felony.

Lake was transported to the Albion Police Department where he was processed and released on an appearance ticket under NYS Bail Reform guidelines. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Albion Court at a later date and time.

No one was injured during this incident.

The Albion Police Department was assisted by members of the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police.

  1. This article leaves more questions than it answers… Whose blood was all over him? Who was he threatening? What preceded this? Why was he threatening people? Did he know the people he was threatening? So many others… Don’t reporters ask questions anymore?

    • The information provided was taken from the Albion Police Department Facebook page. Did email the Chief in regard to a press release, but no response. So was able to find this information on their Facebook page. Hard to get answers when there is no response.
