WYOMING COUNTY/Oakfield man will serve 10 years in prison after facing felony rape charges in two counties

Today, April 27, 2023, Ricardo Castillo, Jr., 40, of Oakfield, NY, was sentenced to 5 years in prison with 10 years of post-release supervision by the Hon. Michael M. Mohun. His sentencing in Genesee County is scheduled for June 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. This case was handled by Clark Zimmerman for the defense and Donald O’Geen for the People.

On January 23, 2023, Castillo Jr. pleaded guilty to rape second degree, a class D violent felony, with an agreed sentence of a 5-year determinate prison sentence and an agreed upon 10 years of Post Release Supervision.

The defendant has similar charges in Genesee County and as part of a global resolution of those charges he has already pleaded guilty in Genesee County with an agreed upon sentence of 5 years in prison with that sentence running consecutive to the Wyoming County charges. The net effect of this global resolution is that the defendant will serve 10 years in prison followed by at least 10 years of post-release supervision. Upon his release from prison, he will be a registered sex offender.

“This defendant groomed and manipulated an underaged child for years just so he could sexually assault her. With her courage, tenacity and unwavering support from her mother she was able to bring her abuser to justice today. She has bright future ahead of her,” said District Attorney Donald O’Geen.
